Hello! Here I am, the new girl on the block. Well, hardly a girl—but oh well. I’ve the face of experience, I tell myself. Who am I? Well, a teacher, mother of four, even a grandmother of several little ones—and a writer like you, with my eleventh book and fifth mystery coming out in April from St. Martin’s Press. How I got to this point I really can’t fathom. I just remember sitting with one foot in the diaper pail, one hand holding a dripping pen. Now, happily, my feet are dry and my two hands are on the keyboard of my friendly (more or less) computer. It’s not easy, is it, this book promotion stuff? But on April 1, some publicist at St. Martin’s will throw my novel, Mad Cow Nightmare, out the window of the New York City flatiron building and tell it to “Go promote yourself.” And with luck, and your kind thoughts, it hopefully will.

Oh, and it’s got a love story in it, too. And I’m not talking about the cows.

I’m also happy to report that my new book, SUSAN SARANDON: A TRUE MAVERICK, has been nominated as nonfiction book of the year in the Colorado Book Awards program. To celebrate this nomination, the manager of Pueblo Waldenbooks scheduled a book signing for me on February 26, the day before the Oscars.
