Needless to say, I took the challenge and the plunge and wrote my first novel ROOMS OF THE HEART which was published in 1990. My second novel, INDESCRETIONS (1991) was the first African American romance to make a best seller list (Emerge Magazine 1991). [trust me there is much more to this story, even some sordid details–but I save those for my in-person presentations].
Since the publication of my first novel, I currently have 24 novels in print and 16 novellas in an assortment of anthologies. In 2000 I was given the opportunity to write my first mainstream novel which became IF I COULD. Since then I’ve jumped right in the mainstream river and have been able to write about topics and issues that I could not fully explore in the romance novel.
Lately I’ve found myself pulled more and more toward mystery and suspense which led me to write GETTING HERS, my first full-fledged mystery. Since I was a kid I was a lover of Agatha Christie, then moved on to Cornwell, Kellerman, Deaver, Patterson, Mosley and others. I suppose it was only a matter of time.
In my other life I work at the Queens Library as a Public Relations Associate and make my home in Brooklyn with my family; 2 daughters a son and grandson, a cat named Bandit and a looney pup named Trust.
